Maarten was asked by Hard//Hoofd to make nine illustrations for a series of tarot cards delivered with the second edition of Hard//Hoofd-magazine. The theme being 'rituals', each card portrays a modern object that represents a prediction for the reader’s future. Touching on themes like ‘growth’, ‘gift’ or ‘time'.
Maarten also made the magazine's cover art for the issue, with the illustration emphasising a modern approach to the subject of ancient ritual.

Knetterijs is a group of illustrators sharing a collective studio in Groningen. Each member is active as a freelance illustrator, spending most of their time working on individual commissions, but we also take on projects as a group. Knetterijs works on commissions for clients at home and abroad, for a wide variety of media.
