The Octagon
Pentalogy
The fifth edition of our Knetterijs zine is the second in a series of projects made possible by the Dutch creative industries fund. The Octagon Pentalogy explores the interaction between sound and image through a series of sci-fi-themed illustrations and five different accompanying audio tracks that shape the experience.
The book in and of itself doesn't make a lot of sense, seeming to be a random series of illustrations featuring the same character, but when you play one of the five audio tracks along with the images, they tell a different story each time.

We hired voice actors to act out the different stories and Kalle en Maarten added sound effects and composed additional music. The stories vary from an epic fantasy tale to a romantic love story to a simple, comedic story about someone losing their keys. Showing how images can take on a completely different meaning when the context is altered.
